Unfortunately, Nokia N8 doesn't support this format. That's why you have to convert the DVDs. I am not sure why. How is that possible? A device that's capable of playing HD MKVs and AVIs, can't play Mpeg2 videos?!. I looked everywhere and couldn't find any answer. I even looked for any applications that can do that, couldn't find anything. The Coreplayer App doesn't work on N8.
MPEG is just a video format.
The video coding format MPEG is used through the web for video compression. MPEG goes up to MPEG- Part4 that is shortened to MP4.

You would need a converter software. A few are available free if you search for them, but most are paid applications. You need to convert your video format to any common video format such as avi, mpeg, mpeg2 etc.

You can convert an mp4 file into another format such as an mpeg with a video converter. Free video converters are available online. Simply Google: free video converters and download one. Install it and follow the conversion instructions ensuring the Output Source format is .mpeg (the type you wish to convert the mp4 to).

Are you sure your camera's video format is .mpeg? Because that format is compatible with Windows Movie Maker:.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmvIf it is, try converting it to another compatible format and importing it again.
