The NASDAQ and NYSE are both major stock exchanges in the United States, but they differ in structure and operation. The NYSE is a traditional auction market where trading occurs on a physical floor with designated market makers, while the NASDAQ operates as a fully electronic exchange with a dealer-based system. Additionally, the NYSE typically lists larger, established companies, whereas the NASDAQ is known for its technology-oriented firms and often has a higher concentration of growth stocks. Both exchanges play crucial roles in global finance, but their trading mechanisms and listed companies set them apart.
