No! Any type of oil will spread the fire! If there is oil involved at all water will spread the fire as well! If there is no fire extinguisher in kitchen some things that will put out fire: - if the fire is in a pot and you have a lid put it on the pot, this eliminates air and will put the fire out
- if that is not an option use flour or salt this won't burn and will smother the fire
- remember to turn off the stove until things are under control
- if the fire is in the oven shut the oven, if you don't have a fire extinguisher, salt or flour just leave it closed, once the air is consumed it will burn itself out.
