I would say it erodes sexist stereotypes.

Certainly, Pride and Prejudice has a number of people in it, of both sexes, who are caricatures, but their purpose is to provide plot, structure, and a set of contrasts to the main character, Lizzy.

By contrast, Lizzy is seen in portrait and in depth. She is not stereotypical, but rather she is interesting precisely because she makes up her own mind and does what she thinks is best. She is not always right, but even when she is wrong, she is interestingly different from the people around her.

Put simply, the heroine rises above, and is better than, the stereotypical women around her, and it is she that women should be like.

"Pride and Prejudice" can be seen as reinforcing some sexist stereotypes of women, as it portrays women primarily seeking marriage and financial security. However, it also challenges these stereotypes by featuring strong, independent female characters who defy societal expectations and strive for personal fulfilment. The interpretation ultimately depends on the reader's perspective.
