No, Professor Layton does not die at the end of the 3rd game, The Lost Future. Look out for the Spectres Flute, game four which obviously includes Professor Layton and Luke Triton.

it's a shame that you want to spoil it, he crys because he has seen his girlfriend alive again but must go back in time and die again for what reason you must wait until the game comes out
