No it is a special controller to work with the move controller on games designed to use both controllers. You can use a Dual Shock 3 for the Move controller Navigation controller if you only use the left half of it at least on some games

You, try reassigning the controller. If you dont know how to, push the small button on top of the controller and do the same to the small button on front of the Xbox.

The PS3 offers more control with individual controllers and they have way more move compatible games than there are Kinect Games. On the downside you need a Move Controller for each person and they sometimes take more time to develop skill or to set the system up correctly.
