I don't think you can 'wash away' the original sin. What happened -- happened; it left a stain in 'universal history'. And how Jehovah God handles it, will set 'a precedent', as in a legal case; for any potential future sins; at least once this legal case is fully closed; and justice has been rendered.

[Remember that God's universal sovereignty was challenged by one of his sons. God was accused of being a liar; and being unrighteous (I know it's a concept that takes a while to comprehend completely; probably can only be comprehended with God's holy spirit.)]

But ultimately, only the redeeming value of Jesus shed blood, can undo the effects of original sin.

Reconciliation with our heavenly dad is necessary to receive of the redeeming value of Christ's shed blood; but reconciliation does not wash it away. Many people have already reconciled with God; but they are still 'in sin'.
