From a guitarist's perspective, Slash plays very basic guitar solos, slowly with really good sounding melodies which make them sound better to the average listener who isn't as knowledgable with guitar.

Slash has become the icon for the rock n' roll solo guitar player but that's kinda' all he ever does. He sort of just sits there drinking his jack, waiting for his solo to come, melts your face off, and than gets back to drinking. He's not what you'd called "well rounded" but he certaintly wears the crown for writing catchy, screaming melodies and riffs.
