There are some people who believe wrongly that suicide is a sin and, as a result a suicide victim should not be given full funeral rites.

However, the metal illness that causes the suicide is just that -an illness - and therefore any suicide victim should be given a normal, loving funeral as a child of God whatever the circumstances.

There is no question that a cancer victim or one who dies of a heart attack should not be given a Christian funeral. These are terminal conditions and the victim treated accordingly after his/her death.

Mental illness leading to suicide can also be thought of as a terminal illness where the outcome is the death of the patient, not from the disease directly, but still as a result of it. Therefore a full funeral should be given - without question.
