yes.
No. If the alternator is working fine, the battery power is not used.
you may need a new gas cap.i have a 2000
on the emergency brake, pull it up one click light will turn off.
Check on the upper end of the brake pedal under dash area
The light comes on when there is a problem with the charging system. Normally this means the alternator is defective.
not enough information what type of vehicle does it have a idiot light or gauge
suzuki has a recall on the esteem for a fuel evap valve on the gas tank. if the valve is damaged by hitting the body of the car, then you'll get an engine light indicating a large evap system leak. the recall covers replacing the valve and putting a pad over it to keep it from happening again.
Check fusable links
You can tape them off and tuck them away. One wirewas for the idiot light and the other wire was a trigger wire to excite the old alternator.
Check your alternator, load test the battery, and if all else, just ignore it until the light stays on full time.
i had the same problem! replaced my alternator 3 times! battery light kept coming on, finally took it to an alternator specialist, come to find out my wireing was connected wrong, and the connector was bad, car wasn't reading the alternator correctly causing the alternator to shut down. Got it fixed for roughly 350 dollars but no problems since, suggest brand new alternator not a rebuilt one!
I had this problem on my 1998 Suzuki Esteem and it was the connector under the dash near the steering wheel. The wire going to the brake light was bad inside the connector. I had to tear it apart and fix the connector right where the wire was inserted into the connector, it had turned brown and mostly melted. I repaired the wire going into the connector and all is back to normal working operation.
