There was a stock turbo option for the 93 eclipse. there was also a non-turbo (n/a) option.
My 93 runs at aprox 2500 on level ground with stock tire size,and a 5 speed trans.
I had the same problem with my Eclipse it was the spyder turbo i had put cheap gas in it. went to 93 octane had no problems.

Naturally Aspirated SOHC is about 161 hp stock, DOHC is about 222 hp stock, and the VR4 Turbo is 300 hp stock for 91-93 and for 94 up they raised to boost a couple pounds to bring it to 320 hp stock, the turbo model can be over 400 hp easy with a few mods and have even gone close to 1000 hp in some extreme cases with boosting over 30 psi and supporting mods.
