Actually, Mary of Cleophas was the wife of Saint Joseph's brother, Cleophas. Therefore, she was the sister-in-law of the Blessed Virgin, not a sister. It would indeed be a strange occurrence if Anne and Joachin named two daughers Mary. Catholic tradition has always held that Mary was an only child.

∙ 12y agoThere is nothing in the Bible to prove if she had siblings. There are references to a sister or sisters but this reference could also mean cousins. She may have had a half sister also but there is no biblical proof.

∙ 10y agoNo, as far as is known, Mary was an only child. The sister of Mary mentioned in scripture who stood at the cross with the Blessed Virgin and Mary Magdalene was Mary of Cleophas who was the brother of Saint Joseph making her the sister in law of the Virgin Mary.

∙ 10y agoNo, she was an only child. The 'sister' mentioned in the Bible was Mary of Cleopas. Now it is highly unlikely that Joachim and Anne would have given the same name to two children. The second Mary is said to have been the wife of Cleopas, the brother of Saint Joseph. That would make her Mary's sister-in-law.
