There are a wide variety of Electric and Hybrid cars on the market. Ford makes great hybrid and electric cars. Some on the market are the Ford Escape Hybrid and there is also the Ford Fiesta and that's a great electric car.
There is a new Chevy Volt out that's an electric hybrid car. Ford also has an Escape that's is electric Hybrid also. Honda also has a new hybrid electric vehicle also that's out right now.
The cheaperst hybrid SUV available now is the Ford,Escape by far. You can also get the sister vehicle,the Mercury Mariner for the same price.
I have a 2005 Ford Escape and I get 25 mpg and 27 highway mpg. I think it is great on gas, especially for an SUV. They also make hybrid Ford Escapes, which are suppose to get a lot of mpg as well.

I work for Enterprise and I have seen the Prius in our fleet, along with the Altima hybrid, the Civic hybrid, the Kia Optima hybrid, and the Ford Escape hybrid. National and Alamo are owned by Enterprise, so they may also have hybrids in their fleets. The Nissan Leaf is being tried at some airport locations, but I don't know how well that is working for them or what it costs.
