Without modification, I've found that the increased drag it causes actually reduces the overall range of the Longshot.
* EXPLANATION *
As is easily seen, the longshot's barrel is much wider than the nerf dart, and all the pressure from the gun's piston is gone long before the dart clears the barrel. Most, if not all of the dart's momentum is gained in that bit of tube that "chambers" the dart (remove the magazine and slide the bold forward, then look in the magwell (magazine slot), it's that orange pipe), and the rest of the barrel doesn't do much besides making the dart fly a little straighter.
* OPTIONAL SOLUTION *
If you don't mind getting your hands dirty (metaphorically speaking), remove the air restrictor (look up a few walkthroughs on the 'net) and insert some closer-fitting pipe (in a similar manner as the inner barrel of an airsoft gun) to use as a functional barrel (again, I recommend looking up guides on the web).
The Nerf LongStrike's max shooting range is 35ft with the long barrel on the end but when it is off it shoots about 23ft.
I have a Nerf longshot, and it shoots decently as long as you take off the barrel extension. Because the Nerf rounds are very low mass, the ones with excessively long barrels do not shoot as long as the short barrel ones. The front-loading ones are also not very far shooting and they break easily. The yellow rifle one is pretty good but it is hard to find refil packs because it uses a special dart, and i guarantee you will lose the ones it comes with sooner or later. One of my friends got the belt fed Nerf machine gun too. its not terribly accurate but you don't have to do anything to shoot it a second time so that can be fun too. Probably the best Nerf creation is the Nerf revolvers though. they aren't as powerful springs as the rifles but they don't break like the one-shot pistols, and they are decently powerful.
the longer the barrel the further it shoots and is more accrurate
just as long as it is out of the box. it doesn't have a stock or an extended barrel. all you have to attach is the tripod and the little things that you use to reload it when you're using it like the long strike.
If you are using a gun that makes a lot of air then make the .5 inch PVC a long barrel, that way they will work effectively.
yes it did
Approx. 31 inches long.
About 2' long
It is a NERF sniper rifle, but the scope doesn;t have magnification
The Nerf Raider is about 2 1/2 feet long and about three pounds.
The new Nerf guns for 2011 aer unknown. But two new Nerf guns that are coming in Spring 2010 are the Long Strike CS-6...the upcoming longest Nerf blaster that will beat the long shots length and the Nerf Deploy CS-6...I know this because when you pause at the right time on the 2010 Nerf commercial you will see these 2 guns and when you go to the Nerf website they are advertising these guns. =)
The Nerf Long Strike cs-6 is coming out Spring 2010. These are Nerf blasters that maybe will come out: The Nerf Bull Shark gl-8, the Nerf Icarus hm-7, and the Nerf Cerberus cs-12.dgamer297Well I think the Nerf barricade will come out in December in Canada.
