Same-sex marriage is not addressed, per se. Homosexuality is, in general, not approved so you can presume that homosexual marriage is also prohibited.
•1 Cor 6:9-10: "Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom
of God? Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolators, nor the effeminate,
nor those who lie with males...will inherit the kingdom of God."
•Romans 1:26-27: "For this reason God handed them over to dishonorable
passions, and their women exchanged their natural use for the unnatural.
And similaly the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned with
desire for one another, males working impropriety on males, and receiving
in themselves the pay which was proper for their wandering."
•1 Tim 1:9-10: "Knowing this, that the law is not there for the righteous
man, but for lawless ones...sexually loose, those who lie with males...."
•Jude 7: "Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which
likewise acted immorally and indulged in unnatural lust, serve as an
example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire."
Scriptural perspective:Both testaments condemn homosexuality, as the verses above attest. "Same-sex marriage," however, is a non-concept to The Bible. God's purpose for the ideal marriage was to establish the basic unit of developed civilization - the family, which requires the birth of children. Marriage legitimizes the offspring, and the family unit provides a nurturing environment for all.Concerning marriage, the moral aspect of homosexuality is actually beside the point. Since a homosexual union can't produce children, marriage can't apply, serving them no purpose. Appropriately, the Bible ignores the idea entirely.
No. No such amendment has been made.
New Testament
No. No such amendment has been made. Although there is no state statute explicitly prohibiting same-sex marriage, the state does not permit or recognize such marriages.
The Old Testament quite often speaks approvingly of two people living together unmarried or having sex either before marriage or (for men only) outside marriage. The story of Adam and Eve never mentions marriage. The New Testament speaks quite disapprovingly of sex without marriage.
