I have a blue printed 240D (615.92) engine from Germany in my son's 1968 220D Mercedes. We've got less than 200 miles on the engine when the 4-speed Transmission gave out this week. The Engine is GREAT!. The car may be beyond what we have budgeted for a tranny rebuild. (405) 789-2126 Bethany, OK
If you remove the small plastic protection cover just in front of the engine sump it is held on by 3 10mm screws. you will find the oil filter housing, you will need a special tool wrench to remove the housing cover these can be purchased on E-Bay. Goodluck because its really a tight fit.
Take a car to a hill or lift the front end so that the coolant tank is above the engine top. Fill the coolant tank, don't put the cap back on, turn the heating in the cabin to max and start the car. Let it get to the standard operating temperature and wait until the the fan on the radiator kicks in. Add coolant if needed. Stop the engine and wait for up to five minutes, check the level and add some more if needed. You can repeat the procedure until you can't fill it anymore.
# Remove the trim around the gearshift and radio assembly. # Undo the screws holding the radio/climate control assembly. # Remove the radio/cc as one piece, carefully taking off the connectors. # Insert parrot in hole. Put bars over the front. Put newspaper under parrot. # Re-install all trim. Do not bother to replace the clmate control, as parrots are tropical birds and will not last long in the cold. Now, all you have to do is to make the parrot sing. Soon, you will be driving everywhere to the sounds of "Polly want a Cracker". Good luck with trying to clean out the parrot-poop, though
