It sure does as well as everything else.
Loosen the tensioner bolt, let the spring loaded tensioner contact the belt. Then tight the tensioner bolt.
Lossen 17 mm bolt at botton of tensioner and screw 13mm bolt on tensioner stud untill belt is tight then re torque 17mm bolt !!
No it is not. The bolt on the pulley is but the tensioner mounting bolt is a T55 torx bit head with the standard thread (right/tight left/loose).
You have a bolt in the center of the belt tensioner. Loosen that bolt. Then you have a bolt on top of the tensioner turn it I think counter clockwise (It doesn't get loose go the other way). Pull belt off and put on new belt and tight up the bolt on top of the belt tensioner so belt is tight and tighten if the center screw.
To re-install a belt tensioner for a 1987 Ford Taurus, tighten the bolt when the tensioner pulley is holding the serpentine belt tight. The belt tensioner sits in a slot and can be adjusted to hold the belt tight.
On the tensioner, sometimes it has a cover on the tensioner that covers the bolt.
you need the take the drive belt out, with the serpentine tool, release the tension on the spring loaded arm, take the bolt on the middle, install your new one, tight the bolt in the middle and you done
the tensioner has a torx head bolt that comes in from the backside of it, you need to remove the belt and access the torx head bolt from underneath.... it is easier to have someone hold the new tensioner in place while you start the bolt back in and tighten it
To change the tensioner you will need to support the oil pan with a floor jack and block of wood, Remove the upper engine mount 15mm nuts (5), then jack engine up a bit Remove the serp belt Remove the upper tensioner bolt. Lower engine down to normal position, remove the r/f wheel Remove the splash guard Remove the lower tensioner bolt. Jack engine back up and remove the tensioner. To install install in the top and LOOSLY put in uppwer bolt Lower engine and install lower bolt Tight then reassemble wheeel etc jack engine tighten upper bolt and fiish reassembly
You can adjust the belt tensioner by loosening the tensioner bolt. When the tensioner bolt is loose the tensioner pulley can move back and fourth.
Your car most probably has an automatic belt tensioner that keeps the belt tight and in proper spec. If the belt has too much play in it, the belt tensioner will need to be replaced.
you will need a belt tensioner set, it has a belt tensioner tool and a bolt/nut that needs to be placed in the correct spot, bolt ususally goes on the belt tensioner pulley. after u have placed the bolt on the belt tensioner pully. use the belt tensioner tool to create slack on the belt by pulling it to the right. then u should just be able to take belt off. might need 2 people
