The egg is ALWAYS fertilized in the fallopian tube. When it is a normal pregnancy it will continue to travel on to the uterus and secure itself to the wall there. Should it secure itself to the wall of the fallopian tube it is referred to as a 'tubal pregnancy' which can be very dangerous and very rarely leads to a live birth. That fertilized egg can travel into the uterus and never attach sometimes. It simply sloughs off and leaves the body during menses. With all the things that can go wrong it's amazing how often people actually carry a normal baby to term!!!! Yes and if it's fertized and planted in the fallopian tube it's called an ectopic pregnancy and will become life threatening. When the embryo of an ectopic pregnancy grows in the fallopian tube, it causes the tube to expand (which it is not meant to do), causing pain to the woman, and with the growth of the fetus, will eventually cause the fallopian tube to burst. When this happens there is a lot of internal bleeding and toxins from this bursting are released into the bloodstream, both of which can be fatal. The only option in an ectopic pregnancy is to abort the pregnancy for the health of the mother.
