The skin, epidermis, is the largest organ on the human body. I know some people don't think of it as an organ but it functions as one and we cannot live without skin. It protects the entire body. If the skin is severly burnt it affects the entire body. If you get an infection from a wound or a burn the infection can spread to the rest of the body and cause serious problems to organs, blood, tissue, etc. Therefore it is crucial we protect our skin. Your skin helps to keep you hydrated and if you lose parts of your skin you will be in trouble.
