Yes and No. Both lions and tigers are ambush hunters. They stay hidden and wait till the prey is close enough and then pounce on it.

The main difference lies in the fact that Tigers are solitary hunters whereas lions hunt in packs. The whole pride gets involved in the hunt and help bring down the prey.
