Yes, Veterans Day is a federal holiday in the United States, and many employers recognize it as a day off for veterans. However, whether veterans are legally entitled to take the day off can depend on their employer's policies. Some employers may provide paid time off for veterans, while others may not offer additional benefits beyond standard holiday policies. It’s best for veterans to check with their specific employer regarding their policies on Veterans Day.
Colleges may or may not have Veterans Day off, as it varies depending on the institution. Some colleges choose to observe Veterans Day as a holiday and give students and staff the day off, while others may have classes and activities as usual. It is important to check with your specific college to see if they have Veterans Day off.

Even Active Duty Military Veterans might not get the Day off, my husband served multiple tours in Iraq but now is a Drill Sergeant and for them this is a regular training day which means off to work he goes. And actually today he'll be gone all day and all night :-)
So they can be with their family. And atleast a day off .
Veterans Day is a day set aside to honor All veterans. The honor is the way they honored and even some died do to war. We honor them not just to get a day off from work or school, it is for the people that cared about their country.
