Overdrive is the normally allowed position , but if you don't want the
transmission to shift into overdrive push the button on the end of your gearshift
lever ( P R N etc. ) Your O/D OFF light will light up in the dash .
No. You should not drive in overdrive all the time.
Only if you want to shut off the overdrive feature , because overdrive is the normally allowed position
On the end of your gear selector lever ( P , R , N etc. ) there is a push button that allows you to turn off the overdrive for your transmission. When the overdrive feature is turned off the O/D OFF light lights up in your gauge cluster. You can either push the button again to enable the overdrive , or the next time the vehicle is shut off and then restarted the overdrive feature is normally allowed
As long as the O/D OFF light is NOT FLASHING there isn't a problem The O/D OFF light just indicates that the overdrive ( 4th gear ) has been shut off . Press the switch on the end of your transmission gear selector ( P R N etcetera ) to allow the overdrive ( or if the Explorer engine is shut off the next time it is started the overdrive will be allowed , that is the normal position )
Overdrive is the normally allowed position but if you have switched the overdrive off ( using the switch on the end of your gear selector lever , P R N etcetera ) then the O/D OFF is lit up in your dash Either push the button again or the next time the vehicle has been shut off and then restarted the light should go out
The O/D off light comes on in your gauge cluster if the overdrive for your transmission has been turned off. The switch that controls your overdrive (able/ disable) feature is on the end of your transmission gear selector lever (Park/reverse/ neutral etc) Just push the switch to allow overdrive or the next time the Explorer is shut off and then started, it normally allows the overdrive feature .
Yes. Because Ford has never changed their Explorer engines. It's always been the 4.0L V6, 4.6L V8, and at one time the 5.0L V8 was included.
You don't........the computer controls the timing.
I was looking at the 1999 Ford explorer owners manual and it doesn't show that it has an autolamp system , so you can't adjust the head light time
NO, leave the overdrive on. Only turn it off when pulling a heavy load or in a mountainous area. Overdrive improves your fuel economy.
The blower motor resistor on a Ford Explorer is positioned behind the glove compartment on the vehicle. The glove compartment can be removed easily by gently squeezing both sides at the same time.
The Ford Explorer service light will come on to tell you of a problem. The issue could be minor, or could result in loss of fuel economy, or cause engine failure over time.
