I too had endoscopic surgery done as treatment for trigeminal neuralgia. I have about a 1 1/2-inch "hole" covered only by the dura behind my right ear. It has been 3 years, and, recently, I asked my family doctor why it had not grown back. Apparently, the bone in your skull is a plate-type bone that does not grow back, unlike the bones in your arms and legs etc. They used to use a metal plate to cover these, but now, if it is not a large area (and because of the frequent use of MRIs), they simply put a dural (the lining that covers the brain) patch over it.
It is generally not advisable to have your cranium removed.
It is called craniotomy when it is removed to allow access to the brain and is replaced when the procedure is done. When the skull flap is not immediately replaced, it is called craniectomy. For more information visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craniotomy.
Osteonecrosis ( decay of a bone )
During a craniotomy, a flap of bone is temporarily removed. After the procedure is over, the bone flap is replaced and secured by the doctor using a variety of methods, including titanium plates and screws, wire, or sutures.
A craniotomy is a surgical procedure where a part of the skull is removed to access the brain. It is commonly used to treat brain conditions such as tumors, bleeding, or swelling.
The brain tumor I had was in the center of my brain. It was located just under the optic chiasm. It was a schwannoma brain tumor which only grows on nerves. It was growing off of my optic nerve. The craniotomy removed it, unfortunately there was nerve damage. I cannot open my left eye, which in a way is good, because my eye points all the way to the outer corner. Thank God the tumor was not cancerous.
It will not be removed.
Yes, rust can be removed.
The nephews of your first cousin once removed, like the children of your first cousin once removed, are your first cousins twice removed.
The children of your first cousin twice removed are your first cousins, thrice removed - or three times removed.
It was removed in 1993.
It is removed... you know how.
