It does work perfectly, so you'll be good to go. but make sure you get the R4i Sdhc and NOT the R4 Card because the regular R4 Card only works on the DS and DS Lite and NOT the DSi system.
It does work on the dsi but make sure it also works on the 1.4 update on DSi - most are clones. Best place to get a genuine R4i would be:

the r4i v1.4 card is the old version, it can only work on dsi v1.4 and below console. No the latest r4 card for dsi is the r4i v1.4.5.
