Yes it does, it is made up of some land, but it is mostly ice that covers it and the ice sheets are he ocean frozen, so there is a coast line otherwise the south pole would have floated away and done another titanic.
The South Pole is located on the continent of Antarctica.
The South Pole sits upon the Continent of Antarctica. The North Pole sits on a Frozen Layer of the Arctic Ocean. Therefore the South Pole has land under it.
The South Pole. Move in any direction from the South Pole and you are moving north.
There are no claims by any country to the North Pole.
The South Pole is at 90 degrees S latitude and is located on the continent of Antarctica. Antarctica is a continent of approximately 14,000,000 sq km and is surrounded by the Southern Ocean. There are no countries or cities on Antarctica and no permanent population. Many countries have scientific research stations on Antarctica.
No there is no landmass under the North Pole
The South Pole is not in any country. It can be found on the continent of Antarctica.
There is no land under the North Pole, it is just floating ice. There is land at the South Pole but the ice is so deep and the conditions so harsh that it probably wouldn't be economical to try and extract any minerals that might be there.
The South Pole has similar traits to the North Pole. However, the North Pole is completely unique in that it is located on a floating ice shelf, rather than a land mass. It cannot support life.
There are no bears of any sort on Antarctica, where the South Pole is located.
Penguins are sea birds and live in the oceans south of the equator. They breed on Antarctica's beaches, the closest of which to the South Pole, is about 750 miles. (As well, the pole sits on two-miles thick of ice, and there is no food there for penguins -- or any other animal.) They breed on Antarctica's coasts because there are no land predators there. As well, there are more predators -- especially land predators -- in the Northern Hemisphere polar region, which means that penguins breeding on land there would not be successful.
from anywhere on a map south is the direction towards the south pole.
