Yes, Illinois recognizes as civil unions out-of-state and foreign same-sex marriages, civil unions, domestic partnerships, civil partnerships and designated beneficiary relationships if they are substantially equivalent to civil union (i.e. marriage) in the jurisdiction where they were performed.
