Any memory stick should do the job.
Memory cards can be used for any video game system(360, wii, ps3 etc) or a camera or any other electronical device that uses a memory card. They are used to store information.
Most Canons use SD cards. There could be variations, though, especially if it is an older camera.

Most digital camera's will tell you what kind of memory card it takes where you insert it on the camera. The store where you bought your camera from should carry memory cards and/or they should be able to advise you in what kind to get. These memory cards can be purchase online or at many electronic or department stores. Depending on your camera's mega-pixels you may need a larger memory card to hold more photos.

Sadly when you buy the camera it doesn't come with a card. I would suggest getting at least 2gb memory for your sd card, 8gb if you plan on taking more video.
