Walking certainly can help! Although you cannot spot reduce you can do specific things to reduce or avoid stomach fat.Cardio exercise is one of those things.

Brisk walking (mild cardio exercise), for example, is excellent for fat loss. It is easier on your body than running or jogging and it is sustainable long term.

To can also reduce or avoid tummy fat by eliminating (or seriously restricting) refined (processed) carbohydrates. Refined carbohydrates are a major cause of fat accumulation around the abdomen. Our bodies were not designed to cope with refined carbohydrates. For more information about how to lose tummy fat and how to do cardio walking, see the related questions, further down this page, listed under Related Questions.
