The University of Southern Mississippi DOES in fact have a color guard. This past year they were a 30 piece section, making them the second largest section within the 400 member Pride of Mississippi. Auditions are normally held sometime in mid March to early April and all auditionees, including veteran members must show a solid knowledge of basic flag movements as well as dance. They will also perform a basic college level routine for judges and captains. For the upcoming season, The Pride of Mississippi Color Guard accepted about 50% of their auditionees and making the 2014 guard a 32 piece section. Past performance by The Pride include all home football games at The University of Southern Mississippi, Many away football games- 2013 at Louisiana Tech, The University of Arkansas, and The University of Alabama at Birmingham, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Dublin, Ireland St Patrick's Day Parade (to which they are returning in 2014), The London New Years Day Parade, and The Edinburgh Scotland Easter Celebration Parade.
