It possibly could improve your gas mileage. With it on you are more aerodynamic thus making the car not have as much drag making it easier. While having it off makes the wind catch a little more onto the car, but these are myths I suppose.

What are some things to consider before choosing a rental truck?

Things to consider when choosing a rental truck depends on how long you will be using it, and what you are wanting it for. If you are wanting it to move from one place to another then you will want to consider the size of the truck and the MPG that you will get. The Truck Gas Pinch?

We are all feeling the pinch in our pocket when it comes to shelling out for gas. If you own a truck, your wallet probably just got tighter. The truth of the matter is, trucks can get less than perfect gas mileage. If you aren’t in the position to trade your truck in for a fuel efficient car, here are some tips to get your money’s worth when it comes to filling up your truck. • Make sure you are keeping your truck in good shape with regularly scheduled tune-ups and maintenance. • Check your owner’s manual to find the suggested inflation of your tires. If your tires are under inflated, it creates a drag and that reduces the fuel economy. • Wheel alignment also affects your gas mileage. Make sure you get it check regularly. • Maintain the aerodynamics. Install a bed cover on your truck. Air rushes over the cover and off the back of the truck instead of the bed. If the air is rushing over the bed, it creates a drag. • If you don’t need your roof rack, remove it. The roof rack also creates drag. • Use cruise control when you can. Ups and downs in acceleration and braking lowers gas mileage. • If you can slow down do it. You will use less gas. • Check your owner’s manual for the recommended type of gas. • It may be a hassle, but turning off your truck when you can will assist in saving gas. For example if you are stuck in traffic, turn your truck off, or avoid the fast food, drive thru. An idling truck uses gas, and getting out of the truck is great exercise! • The most popular method of saving gas is not using the air conditioning. This is true for any mode of transportation. With a little sacrifice you can save money on gas. It does take a change in habits, but it is worth it. If you want to keep your truck and a little cash these tips are great for saving on gas mileage.
