A 32 bit Windows XP can only address 3GB of RAM. To take advantage of all 4 GB and beyond, use 64bit version.
It should work for Win XP, just check the Java version etc. You also have to have 2 Gigs of RAM minimally!
You will only be able to make use of 3 Gigs unless you change to a 64 bit version of Windows.
It depends on the version. 32-bit Windows supports up to 4GB of RAM, whereas 64-bit versions support 4GB + of RAM. It is the same with Windows Vista and 7.
here are the system requirements for the sims 2 * 800 MHz processor * 256 MB RAM if Windows XP * 128 MB RAM if Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows 2000 * At least 3.5 gigs of free hard drive space
Windows xp supports a maximum of 4 gigabytes of ram and 2 Terabytes of hard drive space

There is no such thing as "cleaning RAM."
