There is two on a Discovery. Located on the lefthand & righthand of the engine block.
There is not transmission dipstick on the 2001 Land Rover Discovery.

on the side of the gearbox, there is a levelling screw, that determines the amount of oil
No dipstick is fitted to this model. The filler/level plug is located on the forward face of the gearbox.
There is no dipstick on the manual gearbox, just a plug on the side of the box. You remove the plug and fill until oil spills out of the plug hole.
This is located at the top of the brake pedal, it is a twist fit and a cheap if awkward DIY repair. Don't forge to unplug the wiring plug first.
