The behavior and temperament of a Dog of any breed depends on how the Dog has been raised and the amount of socialization it has received. Pit Bulls are extremely misunderstood, often falling into the wrong hands with people who want them as status symbols or to train them to fight. It is important to remember that Pit Bulls were bred for dog-to-dog aggression, and Pit Bulls that showed aggression to humans were killed. This is because Dog fighters had to be able to be in the pit with their Dogs whilst they were fighting, both as encouragement and to separate them if needed. Fighting Dogs were often also kept as family pets, with stories of injured Dogs having a ride home from fights in the babies' pram. This would not be possible if the Dogs showed human aggression. In fact, it is the Pit Bulls' extreme loyalty to its master that makes them an ideal fighting Dog in the first place, as they are willing to do anything for their owners - including to fight to the death for them when commanded to. So, in response to your question, if your Dog has been raised correctly and socialized, then I very much doubt that it wants to kill you! Be a master your Dog can look up to, train him well and give him the respect that this marvelous breed has always deserved.
