As strange as it sounds it is true. In fact dogs can be allergic to any meats. But some dogs might have different symptoms than others. I have a Doberman Pinscher, Samson, who is allergic to chicken, so we have to be very cautious about his food, and make sure it has no chicken. If he were to eat any amounts of chicken, he would get bald, itchy spots on his coat, and his ears become very red, and sore. The best product we found for this situation, is "Blue Buffalo." It has been a great choice for our dog. There are many choices of flavor, and he has shown no signs of allergic reactions. And it is a healthy choice

If a dog is allergic to chicken, it's important to avoid feeding them any food or treats that contain chicken ingredients. Look for alternative protein sources like lamb, fish, or turkey to ensure they are getting the nutrients they need without triggering an allergic reaction. Consulting with a veterinarian can help determine the best diet plan for your dog's specific needs.

Usually not, although any dog can become allergic at any point in their life to various things. Meat has not been one of them. Chicken feathers may be.

What can you use to stop your dog from itching from allergies?

If a dog is itching, it may be allergies, but always use a flea treatment (from your vets, to be sure if works) to rule out fleas first. Next you need to make sure there are no substances in the house the dog is allergic to - switch to hypoallergenic cleaners/washing powders and see if the itching improves. If this doesn't help, try a food trial - the best food from this is from your vets, but you can try lean chicken and rice, or a hypoallergenic dog food (as long as the dog isn't allergic to the ingredients in the food! Trial and error can take a while). If these don't work, you neecd to talk to your vet. Remember, if the dog has broken skin, hair loss or redness of the skin you should always take them to see the vet first. Even if you get rid of what the dog is allergic to, once the 'itch-scratch' cycle is in place (or the skin is infected), they will never get any better without veterinary intervention. Treatment for allergies is life-long and can be very expensive; make sure your dog is insured with a 'life-long' policy!
