If the driver's side power window is not working while the passenger side functions properly, the issue could be due to a faulty window switch, a malfunctioning motor, or a loose wire. It's often most likely a problem with the switch, especially if other windows are operational. However, it's also possible that the motor has failed or that there is a wiring issue specific to the driver's side. A thorough inspection of the switch and wiring is recommended to diagnose the problem accurately.
Often the plug in connector at the drivers side switch can becaome loose and break the connection. Remove the switch and check this.
The drivers side window switch is the master switch which means all the power goes thru it first, before it continues to the passenger side. I would remove the master switch and using a 12V circuit tester, I would see if current is passing thru the switch and also it may simply be a loose connection at this master switch.I hope this helps you. Turns out the plug on the lock/unlock switch was loose...must be involved somehow all is good now.
If the drivers side window works; yet, the other three do not check the window lock by the window controls on the drivers door. If it is pressed it will lock the other three windows no matter where you try to roll them down from. If this button has not been pressed I would suspect that the switch is bad or there is a loose connection inside the door panel.
It's either a bad Switch, bad/loose wire, or bad window motor
1. If it is electric, the motor is burned out, or the control switch connector on the push button is loose or the glass has come of its track and won"t slide up the rail.
I have a 1983 Cadillac El Dorado and the window on passenger side doesn't work. I checked power to switch (ok) and checked switch and it is also ok. I assume that the wiring is loose or motor is bad. How do I remove panel on door
The drivers door window switch is the master; all power runs thru it first. check the breaker if that is good, I would pull the switch at the drivers door and test both sides of ot; it may just be a loose connection. Power locks are a unrelated/seperate circuit.
Usually the culprit is the contacts inside the window switches in the center console. If you carefully remove each switch you can pry the long sides of the switch away from rocker with a thin blade, you will have to do both sides of switch, carefully remove rocker and try not to loose the springs underneth. clean each contact with a pencil eraser and re-install. All switches are identical and the connector in console determines which window is which, so don't mix those up.
Loose connection?Bad switch?Flat spot in motor?
If it is not a bad switch, the cable moving the window up and down probably came loose or broke. The window regulator comes as an assembly which includes the motor, cable and track. It costs around $70. The passenger window on mine did this. I have found that if I grasp the top of the window and move it forward, toward the front of the car it gets back on track and works fine.
To fix the passenger side power window on a 2001 Pontiac Montana that doesn't go up, first check the fuse related to the power windows; replace it if it's blown. If the fuse is intact, inspect the window switch for any damage or malfunction. You may need to remove the door panel to access the window motor and wiring; check for loose connections or a faulty motor. If the motor is unresponsive, it may need to be replaced.
