Basically, there are no effects of ICT on the teaching and learning of business studies. All you have to know is how to use basic programs, such as excel, the rest you can teach yourself (by YouTube videos, for example). So if you are thinking about taking ICT, but also have the choice of taking something else (and you are willing to learn) TAKE SOMETHING MORE NECESSARY! Good luck!

---------------------------

ICT is now considered to be a high priority in the essential skills requirements of the workplace and commerce.

Within the teaching environment ICT as a teaching aid has increased accessibility to new, updated information, allowed for for greater time saving on administration of the curriculum and in some forward thinking environment s reduced the cost of teaching aids such as books and audio visual presentation. The role of the ICT however, is open to abuse - homework previously had to be hand written and yes there were copying opportunities for some students but it was believed that when copying text in the form of information from someone book to their own some of the necessary information was absorbed. It also improved the writing skills and to a degree some spelling . With ICT being the mode of providing much of the homework and assignment, large scale drag and drop /cut and paste has been noted. This is often suspected when large amounts of an individuals assignments seem very "similar" to their peers including spelling and grammatical errors. The use of office based software has assisted the business world considerably. However, businesses find that whilst basic package usage is good the more powerful requirements of business still have to be learned. This is particularly true of spreadsheets. Here businesses often expect complex calculations that those individuals who were taught maths pre the computer age find systematic as they have the pencil and paper skills to check their calculations are accurate. Another issues is encountered where word processors are used to a greater degree. The ability to spell and formulate correct grammatical text has degraded as the "machine" does it all for you attitude is often employed.
