Deep ocean currents have enormous effect on climatic conditions. Deep ocean currents are also known as conveyor belt for temperature. There are two types of water currents, cold and warm. The warm water currents are less dense than cold water currents.

Ocean currents.
Diverging currents are currents that are deviating and usually take place to ocean currents. This will be marked by an inconsistent airflow pattern of the currents.
The changing ocean currents lead to climate cooling by bringing cooler breezes to places with higher climates. The cool breezes push the warm air out and leads to the drop of temperature.
A boundary between regions having different types of climate. The most effective climatic divides are the crests of mountain ranges. The boundary between two well-defined ocean currents may also act as a climatic divide.
Depends on which ocean, where it is located (polar or tropical), what currents are prevalent in the ocean, the climatic (seasonal) variation, the depth of the ocean, the depth of monitoring as well as the salinity of the ocean in question. There are probably a few more variables, as you can see this is a complex dynamic.

Cold ocean currents sink under warm ocean currents to form deep ocean currents.
My best guess is that they occur because of warming and cooling of the surface temperature. I am sure there is a pattern of these deep ocean currents to and from the equator and the poles.

Ocean currents is what forms surface currents. This starts deep in the ocean.
