particles
It was the Greek philosopher Democritus who proposed the hypothesis that matter was composed of tiny indivisible particles. Democritus also wrote on mathematical topics like geometry. He was born in 460 B.C. and died in 370 B.C.
Around 400 BC Democritus a Greek philosopher theorized that everything was composed of small indivisible particles he called atoms or "atomos".
Yes, everything is made of tiny particles - if it is an element then the particles are atoms of that element, if it is a compound then the particles are molecules composed of atoms of the elements which make up the compound.

Demrocritus contributed that all things originate from a vortex of tiny, indivisible particles, which he called atoms

I believe it is Democritus
Democritus was responsible for it. Democritus was a Greek philosopher who lived nearly 2,500 years ago. He was the first to propose that all matter is composed of tiny particles which he called "atomos," which is the Greek word for indivisible. Turns out he was right, and we still call them atoms.
