It depends upon why you are actually soaking the foot. If you just want to refresh your feet after a long, hard day, then simply mix up a brew of herbs with hot water, straiin and soak the feet.
Wash them with hot water and soap. Soak for a while if necessary. Rinse in a bleach water solution.

I soak my cpap mask and humidifier in a cup of bleach to a sink fll of water. Let it soak for 20 minutes then rinse thourougly and place on a cleqn surface to dry.

you can put bleach on them before you put them in the washer. just let them soak in the bleach
Ammonia and Bleach create Chlorine gas. Which causes respiratory damage that will lead to death if enough is inhaled. Oh and it's painful. Warning to all who like to clean the toilet by letting a bit of bleach soak in it: Make these restrooms off limits to the kids, or better yet, wait until after they are asleep. My son urinated in the toilet after I had left bleach in it to soak. He came running out with his pants down to escape the odor. Urine has just enough ammonia in it apparently to create a mini "mustard gas" reaction.
It may be a hard thing to do, but if you move the machine out and look under it, it may have leaked at one time and now mold is growing under it. If this is the case use bleach to clean the mold.
