I got similar problem with my Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.8l petrol year 2000 after i bought it.
i was looking through car and final i found that one of four coil spark plug ends was broken. i replace coil pack and now everything is perfect. drive as a new!
but also could be problem with fuel system - need to check that!
