The income tax is not a direct tax on a man or woman's labor. If it was it would be without a doubt unconstitutional. The 16th Amendment did not give Congress any new taxing powers so direct taxes still must be apportioned among the states. Anyone that tells you anything different is a complete idiot. The federal income tax remains constitutional only because of its voluntary nature and the fact that it is an excise (indirect) tax on certain activities and privelges and the amount of money earned while engaging in these activities is what's used to determine the amount of the tax.
