There can be numerous names used by bullies to tease their victims. Most of these are standards: ugly, fat, anorexic, stupid, idiot, dumb, emo, etc. Whilst others can be created from a person's first name, middle name or surname. It can be created due to the spelling or the sound of the name. For example, a person's surname could be spelt "Maunsewer" yet a bully could deliberately decided to call them "Man-sewer". There can be name calling used among friends as a joke but they shouldn't be used to bully others.

"Name Calling" is a form of ad hominen attack. An ad hominen attack is saying something bad about an opponent, or in this case calling them a name. The hope is that calling someone a name to cause others to think they are a bad person.

Name calling can take many forms as well. It can be a label, such as "Libertine" or an animal such as "snake" or "shark." Or it can take the form of a noun that refers to people such as "drunk" or "prostitute." Generally, calling someone a name is not a good thing to do. It isn't fair to color all their qualities with one name, but people will react that way just the same. It is a logical fallacy.

When you call someone an "Eagle." that is not an attack, but it is still an ad hominen effort as you are trying to giver the person good attributes so that others will believe what ever he or she says.
