This would depend on what type of a motorcycle that you find appealing. Do you like the sport bikes, cruisers? How much money do you have to spend? Take your time, check out the manufacturers websites. Yamaha.com .............Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Ride Safely. As you have already discovered, most sports bikes/enduro/sports cruisers are built for an average height of 5 foot 10. However, ride height can be adjusted by narrowing the seat and lowering the suspension. And really that's what it's about; the bike that fits is the bike to buy. If you are not part of the bike you will never feel safe on it. For familiarity, and the knowledge that it fits, most people who do DAS tend to buy the type of bike they passed their test on, ER5, CB, Bandit etc,. So get something reliable, probably Japanese, that you feel comfortable on and won't mind laying down (trust me, you're going to!). Ride it for a year, during which time you can have a good look around the bike meets, shows and shops and settle on what is right for you. Check out the online biking reviews too, they are less economical with the truth than manufacturers' sites and cover everything, not just the current models. Then, if you must get a sports bike, don't get a cheap one, it's been hammered.
