Water is allowed to flow through an impeller. This drives the impeller around. A mechanical shaft from the impeller is connector to the rotor of a dynamo/alternator. Since the rotor (a coil of wires) is revolving inside a magnet , this generates electricity in the dynamo/alternator.

The mechanical shaft is the same to a steam turbine in a thermal/nuclear power station, thereby the process is the same.

NB An 'Impellor' is the same as a propeller , the difference being that an impeller rotates because of flowing water through it, whereas a propeller is rotated by mechanical mean to make the object flow through water.

What type of energy in flowing water?

Mechanical energy, if it is moving then it is kinetic mechanical energy. Or if it is at the top of a hill about to fall then it is potential mechanical energy.

What is the energy made by moving water?

The energy made by moving water is called hydroelectric energy. It is generated by converting the kinetic energy of flowing water into electricity using turbines connected to generators. This renewable energy source is commonly harnessed in hydroelectric power plants.

Where is hydroelectric energy found?

Where is hydroelectric energy generated?Hydroelectric energy, being electricity generated from a hydro (water) source, usually a hydro-electric dam, can be found anywhere on the electrical grid.

Is an energy resource harnessed from flowing water?

Yes, an energy resource harnessed from flowing water is known as hydropower or hydroelectric power. This renewable energy source is generated by converting the kinetic energy of moving water, typically from rivers or dams, into electricity. Hydropower is one of the oldest and most widely used forms of renewable energy, contributing significantly to the global energy supply while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

What form of energy is flowing water possess?

Flowing water possesses kinetic energy, which is the energy of motion caused by the movement of water. This energy can be harnessed and converted into other forms of energy, such as mechanical or electrical energy, using devices like water turbines or hydroelectric generators.

A mountainous region would be a likely source for what energy?

A mountainous region would likely be a good source for hydropower energy due to abundant flowing water that can be harnessed for hydroelectric power generation.

What is power generated by moving water called?

Power generated by moving water is typically referred to as hydroelectric power or hydroelectricity. This type of power is harnessed using dams or other structures to capture the energy of flowing water and convert it into electricity.

What is the original source of the energy in flowing water?

The original source of energy in flowing water is the sun. Solar energy heats the Earth's surface, causing water to evaporate and form clouds. When the clouds release rain or snow, the resulting precipitation flows downhill due to gravity, creating the potential energy that can be harnessed for hydroelectric power.

What is the energy flowing water?

The energy obtained from flowing water is called hydroelectric energy. It is produced by converting the kinetic energy of moving water into electricity using hydroelectric power plants. This renewable energy source is clean and sustainable.

What is the energy flowing water called?

The energy produced by flowing water is called hydroelectric energy. It is generated by harnessing the kinetic energy of moving water and converting it into electricity using turbines and generators in hydroelectric power plants.

Where does hydroelectric power come frome?

Hydroelectric power comes from the energy generated by flowing or falling water, typically harnessed through dams or run-of-the-river systems. As water flows, it turns turbines connected to generators, converting kinetic energy into electrical energy. This renewable energy source relies on the water cycle and is a significant contributor to global electricity production.

How is flowing water used to create energy?

Flowing water is used to create energy through hydroelectric power plants. Water flowing from a higher elevation to a lower elevation turns turbines, which then generate electricity. This clean and renewable energy source is often harnessed using dams or run-of-the-river systems.
