For an agreement to be regarded as a contract, it must contain four very essential components. First, is offer, which must be a very definite and clearly stated offer to do something. Second, is acceptance, to mean that the offer must be accepted exactly as offered without conditions and only what is offered should be accepted. Next, is intention of legal consequences, which is the backbone of a contract, requiring the parties creating the contract to enter into a legally binding agreement thus allowing the contract to be enforced by law. Lastly, is consideration, which simply means that party A promises to do something for the party B in return for a promise from party B to provide a benefit of value, otherwise known as a payment.
