Along with Country Music, you have the territory of land, that is also known as country or countryside (including horses, fields, medows. and farms). Beginning in the 1930's, cowboy actors and singers began to come on the scene, and alot of the western sound was the same as country. Fiddles, guitars, banjos, harmonicas were some of the major instruments that were used in both country and western music.
Then, these cowboy and cowgirl actors began recording country songs as well. Then, the combination known as Country and Western Music was established. Western Music performers such as Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, The Sons of the Pioneers, Tex Ritter, Gene Autry and Patsy Montana were able to bring even more fans into the world of country music.
However, by the mid-1960's, the making of cowboy movies had pretty much disappeared. Also, the country radio stations began to cease to play the western music that once was popular. So, the term Country and Western Music, would soon be changed to just Country Music.
