Pure metal is a simple element. It does not have any impurities in it. Metals can also be defined as the elements having +ion's or cations in it. They always have more protons than electrons in it. Nature of their oxides are basic. They always form ionic bonds.Ionic bonds means bonds formed by transfering of electrons to other atom. They only combines with non metals.
But on the other hand, Alloys are mixtuqe of two or more elements. They have a pretty complex structure. These alloy are always formed by ionic bonds.
To say that bonding is on a continuum means that the type of bonding changes gradually as the difference in electronegativity between atoms increases. There is no sharp distinction between polar covalent and ionic bonds.
Metallic Bonding is the bonding between atoms within metals. The attraction between positive metal ions and free moving electrons is known as the metallic bond. It occurs in metal elements; e.g. iron, copper and sodium
The cohesion between strands of the DNA double helix and the primary structure of proteins are both dependent on hydrogen bonding.
To calculate the the Energetics of Covalent Bonding and the Ionic character, you need to take into accot the difference in electronegativity of two atoms: Δχ = χB − χA.
An ionic bond can be defined as a type of chemical bond formed through an electrostatic attraction between two oppositely charged ions. Crystal structure can be defined as a unique arrangement of atoms and molecules in crystalline liquid or solids,
Types of bonding: ionic (in salts), covalent (in organic compounds), metallic (in metals).
Metallic Bonding

Hypothetically speaking, this has to do with the molecular bonding of ions between the two compounds. i may be off a little bit.
Environment and bonding. The structure determines its function.

Ionic bonding is based on electrostatic attraction between two atoms; covalent bonding is based on the sharing of electrons between atoms.
To calculate the the Energetics of Covalent Bonding and the Ionic character, you need to take into accot the difference in electronegativity of two atoms: Δχ = χB − χA.
Ions of opposite charges are involved in ionic bonding where the metal atoms form metallic bonds.
Dmitri Mendeleev used the property of bonding power when developing his periodic table. Bonding power refers to the number of bonds an element forms during a chemical change. But Mendeleev could not explain bonding power because he didn't know about the structure of atoms. (search Dmitri Mendeleev's periodic table)
