Photokeratitis or ultraviolet keratitis is a painful eye condition caused by exposure of insufficiently protected eyes to the ultraviolet (UV) rays from either natural or artificial sources. Photokeratitis is akin to a sunburn of the cornea and conjunctiva, and is not usually noticed until several hours after exposure. Symptoms include increased tears and a feeling of pain, likened to having sand in the eyes.
The injury may be prevented by wearing eye protection that blocks most of the ultraviolet radiation, such as welding goggles with the proper filters, a welder's helmet, sunglasses rated for sufficient UV protection, or appropriate snow goggles. The condition is usually managed by removal from the source of ultraviolet radiation, covering the corneas, and administration of pain relief. Photokeratitis is known by a number of different terms including: snow blindness, arc eye, welder's flash, bake eyes, corneal flash burns, flash burns, niphablepsia, or keratoconjunctivitis photoelectrica.
When not using goggles and skiing or Snowboarding expect to get snow or ice in your eyes while you are going about 60 mph down a hill. Kinda painful. What about rocks getting thrown in your eyes? While you are doing a lab at school or something chemicals can splash in your eyes and cause blindness. You should definitley wear goggles when they are needed.

Nothing happens, however it is a precaution you must take whilst in a lab. There are normally dangerous chemicals everywhere, and if a substance or something goes into your eye you can get blinded. If you forget to put on goggles and something goes in your eye; wash it thoroughly and you may have to go the nearest hospital if it is irritant.
However, nothing will physically happen if you walk into a lab without goggles on! :)
Something might get in your eye. You might experience pain depending on the thing you get in your eye. It might burn your eye or it might cut your eye.
it will burn your eyes and you need to close your eyes when your not wearing goggles
In chemical experiments and on the job, not wearing safety goggles can result in eye injury. Objects or liquid can enter the eye accidentally. Having goggles can prevent the occurrence.
