What type of bacteria feeds on dead things?

Bacteria that feed on dead organisms are called decomposers. I will explain how it works with plants. When plants are eaten by an animal or have died there are called ammonium compounds. Then ammonium compounds are decomposed by bacteria called decomposers and turned into nitrites. Then they get nitrified by bacteria called nitriying bacteria and turned into nitrates. Then the nitrates are absorbed by the roots of plants and the cycle starts again. There is a cycle that includes this that might help. Its called the nitrogen cycle.

Explain how the development of a red color on the addition of zinc is a negative test?

zinc reduces nitrates to nitrites. The development of red color therefore verifies that nitrates were not reduced to nitrites by the organism. If the nitrates were not reduced, a negative nitrate reduction reaction has occurred

If the culture does not undergo a color change on the addition of solutions A and B explain how you would interpret this result?

nitrates were not reduced by the organism or the organism possessed such potent nitrate reductase enzymes that nitrates were rapidly reduced beyond nitrites to ammonia or even molecular nitrogen.

If gram positive bacteria are incubated with penicillin in an isotonic solution will it able to grow or lysed explain why?

the bacteria can still grow in an isotonic solution with penicillin present.

Explain How the bacteria benefit the plant and How the plant benefits the bacteria?

Depends on the type of bacteria.some bacteria can cause the plant to rot while some can make the plants have better ability to absorb mineral salts.I'm so sorry but I do not know how the plant benefits the bacteria :)

Explain how the bacteria in griffith's experiment were transformed?

The harmless living bacteria took in pneumonia-causing DNA(genes) from the heat-killed, pneumonia-causing bacteria, as a result of which the harmless bacteria changed into bacteria that cause pneumonia.

Explain why the oil degrading bacteria do not grow if nitrogen and phosphorus are not added?

Petroleum can meet the carbon and energy requirements for an oil-degrading bacterium, but nitrogen and phosphate are not usually available in mass amounts. Nitrogen and phosphate are essential for making proteins, phospholipids, nucleic acids, and ATP among the bacteria.
