sounds like you have one or more plugs needs replacing.at same time one or more coils need replacing. on newr engines pretty much when a plug goes out so does at least one coil. a shop will have the machine to read which ones need replacing
on the bottom of the throttle body.
The 1997 Ford F150 4.6 liter engine throttle position sensor is located on the top of the transmission. The sensor will be connected to the fuel injection rail.
It is located at the throttle body on the end of the throttle shaft. The throttle body is on the intake manifold, the hose from the air filter ends up at the throttle body.

Your throttle linkage may be sticking. You can try spraying it with wd40 to loosen it up usually near the carburator.
